The Israeli military on Tuesday demolished a home in the Palestinian city of Hebron and killed two children after finding a fire that ignited inside.
The home, located in the Al-Aqsa neighborhood, was one of a number of houses in the area where Israel’s army demolished the houses after the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan, according to the Palestinian health ministry.
Israel demolished about 2,500 Palestinian homes in its military operation to destroy the militants from July 1 through Aug. 6.
The IDF’s demolitions in Hebrons Al-Shaqra and Al-Baqr neighborhoods on Tuesday morning were in violation of a ruling from the Civil Administration, the ministry said in a statement.
The Al-Sharqiya neighborhood, which also houses several mosques, was also demolished in the past few days, the statement said.
The demolition of the Al Sharqiya home came two days after the Israeli army bulldozed a home, demolished a building, and killed a child in the city, the same ministry said.
In response to the Israeli demolitions, dozens of Palestinians took to the streets in Hebria and other Palestinian communities to protest the demolitions and demand that Israel halt its demolitions.
The violence in HebRON, which began after the assassination of a prominent Palestinian leader in August, has killed more than 2,400 Palestinians and dozens of Israelis.
The latest death in the Hebron violence took place Monday.
