Top-ranked Canadian music retailer Weezer is back on the list of most-loved Canadian music stores.
The retailer was first on the 2017 list of the most-visited stores in Canada, with over 12.6 million visits to its website last year.
It had an average of 3.2 million visitors per day last year, according to the latest data from Visit Canada.
That compares with an average daily traffic of just 1.6 per cent for the top-ranked retailer Spotify, according a 2016 report from VisitCanada.
The report says Spotify accounts for about one-fifth of Canada’s music sales.
Spotify had a total of 9.5 million unique visitors last year for its website, with visitors making a total total of 7.2 billion visits in total.
Spotify said it plans to invest in Canada’s retail economy.
“We are excited to see that Weezers growth in the United States has been more positive than our own in Canada,” Spotify’s director of global music strategy, David Rovines, said in a statement.
“In fact, we are seeing positive signs in our US stores as well.”
The top-rated store, which also has more than 3 million songs on the Spotify catalog, has been selling out of its first two million albums since the beginning of 2017.
It’s unclear how much the company has spent on promotion.
